No I've found that at http://shackgames.net it will not let you log in; but at http://www.shackgames.net it will.

And I have a fair few errors in the admin panel which I am trying to fix. Will let you know how I get on!

That is because session is always generated for domain http://www.shackgames.net, but when you log in from shackgames.net then you are redirected back to shackgames.net and so you still appear offline. The best fix (also good for search engines) would be redirecting everyone from domain without www to domain with www, to do this add this

Can you please explain how the new caching system works? And how to work with the new options in the Admin CP? (Suggested settings, when to clear cache, etc.)

Well, there is not much to explain: data is loaded from the database every $cache_time minutes and then it is saved to cache file.

There are no suggested settings, the default for cache time is 15 minutes and generally this should be OK, but if you want the data on your site to be updated more often then you can lower the time, but if you are more worried about CPU usage then you can use 30 minutes or even more. Copy function should generally be set to copy(), but if it doesn't work then cURL is just another option.
